Author and pastor Jeremy Farley’s latest book, The Gospel According to Texas, blends the hardship and beauty of the American West with a powerful story of faith, redemption, and generational legacy.

Told through the unique voice of Texas itself, the novel spans decades in the life of the Chiswell family, whose journey from cattle ranching to oil wealth is marked by love, betrayal, and the relentless pull of the land. Part western epic, part historical fiction, and part Christian novel, The Gospel According to Texas offers a sweeping yet deeply personal look at the way place and faith shape generations.

“I wanted to write a story that felt like a campfire tale handed down for a hundred years,” Farley said. “It’s got the cattle drives, the dust, the oil boom — but it’s also got the grace of God working in the middle of it all.”

Farley, known for his memoir Hay Balers & Holy Rollers: The Story of My Appalachian Childhood, draws on his love of history and storytelling to create a novel that resonates with fans of Yellowstone, Lonesome Dove, and faith-based westerns.

The Gospel According to Texas is available now in paperback and Kindle editions on Amazon.
