It generally doesn’t take very long following a major tragedy for those who profess no religious affiliation whatsoever to link the most recent terrible event in the world to Christianity.
My Facebook page, Twitter profile, website and email have all been blown up by atheists wishing to take jabs at “organized religion,” lumping all Christians, Jews and Muslims into the same cart; acting as though we’re all the same – nothing more than a ruthless band of savages running around killing anyone who doesn’t agree with us.
Each of these individuals desire a 100% secular, atheistic society for both America and all the nations of the world. This, they are confident would solve all the world’s problems, create a society where everyone prospers and establish “equal rights for all.”
“If only such a place existed…” They fantasize to themselves.
Only one small problem – the world has seen several 100% atheistic countries and frankly, I haven’t came across one that anyone in their right mind would choose to live in – even those who desire to live in the imaginary land. History and current events reveal that citizens of these lands are treated the worst of all the peoples of the globe.
Communism, at its core is atheism. In fact, at the root of communism one will find all the core components of liberalism – Big government, godlessness, socialized everything – the classic nanny state that the present day DNC is committed to creating.
So what is the track record of countries dedicated to Atheism?
Take a raft south to Cuba and find out how perfect, prosperous, and peaceful an atheistic nation is (be careful not to hit any of the hundreds of rafts travelling north though – they simply couldn’t handle all of Castro’s equality):
“After a week, I decided religion wasn’t for me.” –Fidel Castro
The Miami Herald says that more than 4,000 were killed by Fidel Castro’s firing squads. Many others drowned trying to leave Cuba. The exact body count is elusive, but experts who keep track of those killed as a result of Castro’s revolution know this much: During his nearly five decades in power, the toll kept mounting.
Armando Lago, a Cuban exile and economist who made a personal quest of counting the people who lost their lives as a direct consequence of Castro, estimates the total at well over 100,000.
Granted, that’s just one example of a nation whose official religion is atheism, so let’s move on… to say… umm… China.
The People’s Republic of China was established in 1949 and since then the government has been officially atheist. For much of its early history, the country maintained a hostile attitude toward religion. Houses of worship, including temples, mosques, and churches, were seized and converted into non-religious buildings for secular use.
Over this past summer, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (Democrat) referenced China’s many human rights violations, exclaiming that the Chinese government and governments like it are “taking the world backwards.”
Human rights violations is synonomous with the present atheistic Chinese government – including the torture, murder and rape of the nation’s own citizens. Recently, one Chinese woman had gotten pregnant with a second child (which in and of itself is against the law for commoners in atheist-China) refused to get an abortion. Her home was broke into by Chinese police, who stompped and beat her stomach in an attempt to cause a miscarriage, before arresting her and forcing her to have an abortion.
The woman’s husband stated the following:
“They held her hands behind her back and pushed her head against the wall and kicked her in the stomach,’ he said. ‘I don’t know if they were trying to give her a miscarriage. ‘Our ten-year-old daughter has been excited about having a little brother or sister but I don’t know how I can explain to her what has happened. He recalled how a month before the child was due to be born officials told the couple they weren’t allowed to have another baby because they already have a daughter. His wife, who was filmed in hospital with large bruises on her arms and her dead child still inside her, said: ‘I have had this baby, feeling it moving around and around my belly. Can you imagine how I feel now.’”
Experts estimate that the Chinese athesit government is responsible for over 40million people in its short history.
So much for equal rights in the world’s largest nation, whose official religion is atheism… But isn’t that Truett Cathy one wicked man?
State atheism in Albania was taken to an extreme during the totalitarian regime installed after World War II, when religions, identified as imports foreign to Albanian culture, were banned altogether.
The Agrarian Reform Law of August 1945 nationalized most property of religious institutions, including the estates of monasteries, orders, and dioceses. Many clergy and believers were tried, tortured, and executed. All Roman Catholic priests, monks, and nuns were expelled in 1946.
In February 1948 Communists seized power in Czechoslovakia, their agenda included combating “a dangerous ideological enemy holding enormous influence on the masses”, a reference to Christianity. In pursuance of this aim, the houses of religious were seized by the State Security Service (StB) in three “barbaric nights” in 1950, forcibly moving a total of 3,142 people into “concentration monasteries”. In the case of the male religious, these were virtually turned into prison camps or labour camps secured with guards and imposing a strict regime aimed at the “political re-education” of the religious. The 213 buildings and facilities seized were confiscated and the contents of many valuable ancient libraries that survived even Turko-Tatar attacks in the Middle Ages were used for making cardboard.
In 1957, the Czech government arrested university students in the eastern Slovakia town of Košice who were holding Bible study meetings. The consequent investigations led to further arrests of Christians and trials in 1959 not open to the public but covered by state-controlled media, which presented information under false and misleading headlines in order to turn the nation at large against Christians. The arrested members were found guilty of “spreading the hostile Christian ideology” and “opposing scientific Marxist ideology” and were sentenced pursuant to a law against subversion of the Republic… But those Christians who oppose homosexual marraige are the real intolerant ones aren’t they?
Of course everyone who has but a basic understanding of history knows all too well what life was like in Soviet Russia.
State atheism in the Soviet Union was known as “gosateizm”, and was based on the ideology of Marxism–Leninism. As the founder of the Soviet state Vladimir Lenin put it:
“Religion is the opiate of the people: this saying of Marx is the cornerstone of the entire ideology of Marxism about religion. All modern religions and churches, all and of every kind of religious organizations are always considered by Marxism as the organs of bourgeois reaction, used for the protection of the exploitation and the stupefaction of the working class.”
Marxism-Leninism has consistently advocated the control, suppression, and, ultimately, the elimination of religion. Within about a year of the revolution the state expropriated all church property, including the churches themselves, and in the period from 1922 to 1926, 28 Russian Orthodox bishops and more than 1,200 priests were killed (a much greater number was subjected to persecution).
From the late 1920s to the late 1930s, such organizations as the League of the Militant Godless ridiculed all religions and harassed believers with the support of the government. Anti-religious and atheistic propaganda was implemented into every portion of soviet life, in schools, communist organizations (such as the Young Pioneer Organization), and the media. Soviet leaders eventually changed the calendar in order to ensure that a “holiday will seldom fall on Sunday.”
In 1937 Soviet troops invaded the sovereign nation of Mongolia, where they iniated a whole-scale attack on the Buddhist religion. At the same time, Stalinist-style purges took place in the Communist Party and in the Mongolian army. Mongolia’s new leader was a follower of Joseph Stalin who emulated many of the policies Stalin had implemented in the Soviet Union. The purges led to the almost complete eradiction of Lamaism in the country, and cost an estimated 30,000–35,000 lives.
R.J. Rummel, writes in his book, “Death by Government”:
“With this understood, the Soviet Union appears the greatest megamurderer of all, apparently killing near 61,000,000 people. Stalin himself is responsible for almost 43,000,000 of these.”
The wonderful land of North Korea is also “officially atheist”… Sounds exactly what we need to emmulate in this country doesn’t it?
North Korea’s government exercises virtual total control over society and imposes state sanctioned atheism, the cult of personality of Kim Jung Il and Kim Il Sung, described as a political religion. Although the North Korean constitution states that freedom of religion is permitted, free religious activities no longer exist in North Korea as the government sponsors religious groups only to create an illusion of religious freedom.
North Korean’s atheist rulers have made things so bad in the nation, stealing all the people’s possessions, that children in the country are forced to eat grass.
And yet you have the nerve to critize relgious people for being the only ones prone to violence.
And yet you have the nerve to say that if society continues down the path of liberalism, toward atheism, America and the world would be a far better place.
Dear atheist, you should be ashamed of yourself for following an ideology that hasn’t worked in a single nation of the globe and has killed more people over the past century than those who claim “Christianity” have in the past three centuries.
Liberals and atheists in particular like to assume a “higher, more righteous” position when it comes to matters of great tragedy – pretending to be above the petty backbiting of those who claim religion.
The facts, however, reveal a totally different story. Whether it’s the past one-hundred years of human history of the past twenty years of mass shootings in America, you will find far more atheists and liberals involved than those who define “mainstream culture” would have you believe, including: the Columbine shooters (atheists), the Colorado theater shooter (member of Occupy Wall Street), and Adolf Hitler, who was a socialist.
The simple facts are these: People kill innocents in the name of Islam (following the teaching of Muhammad), people kill in the name of Judaism, people kill in the name of “Christianity” and people kill in the name of atheism… Because at the end of the day, as any person in law enforcement will tell you (as does the Word of God), man is wicked by nature.
You can find countless examples of each of these above named groups killing people on mass levels, which is my point altogether and destroys your point altogether.
Like it or not, but inside you dwelleth no good thing and you, yes even you and those who share your views are capable of doing unspeakle things. Christ’s purpose in coming was twofold: To forgive the actions of our old man and to make each willing person a new man.
In their undeniable wisdom, our founding fathers devised not a democracy but a Republic. They have since been criticized for placing so many restrictions upon who was awarded the privilege to vote. Among those intitial restrictions were: that state legislatures to appoint Senators, an Electoral College (which originally called for voters to elect a trusted member of their community to meet with others across the state in order to select the best candidate for President), and lastly they only wished for property owners to be given the privilege to vote.
